Introduction

The Horizontal Pressure Leaf Filter is a fully enclosed pressure filtration system designed for high-flow liquids with low solid content. It is particularly suitable for applications where high filtration capacity, clean operation, easy maintenance, and automated cake discharge are required.

Compared with traditional filter presses, the Horizontal Pressure Leaf Filter uses multiple filter leaves inside a closed pressure vessel, providing a larger filtration area, higher flow capacity, and a more enclosed filtration process. Unlike open filtration equipment, it helps reduce liquid splashing, dust, odor, and environmental exposure.

Compared with vertical pressure leaf filters, its horizontal structure allows the filter leaf bundle or shell to be retracted, making filter leaf inspection, cleaning, and maintenance more convenient. The system can also be configured for automatic cake discharge and supports both dry and wet cake discharge.

The Horizontal Pressure Leaf Filter mainly consists of:

• Filter Housing — A pressure-resistant enclosed vessel for the filtration process.
• Filter Leaves — Multiple vertical filter elements providing a large filtration area.
• Filter Leaf Bundle — Retractable design for convenient cleaning and maintenance.
• Pneumatic Vibrator — Helps remove filter cake during automatic discharge.
• Hydraulic Power Unit — Controls bonnet opening/closing and shell or filter bundle retraction.
• Support Frame — Provides stable support for the complete filtration system.
• Automatic Control System — Enables automated filtration, cake discharge, and operating control.

The filter leaves are made of multi-layer stainless-steel wire mesh, providing good filtration performance, corrosion resistance, and long service life.

Working Principle

1. Feeding — The liquid containing suspended solids is pumped into the closed filter vessel under pressure.
2. Filtration — The liquid flows through the filter leaves, while solid particles are retained on the outer surface of the filter elements.
3. Cake Formation — As filtration continues, a filter cake gradually forms on the filter leaves. Filter aids can also be added to improve filtration performance.
4. Clean Liquid Collection — The filtered liquid passes through the filter leaves and flows through the internal filtrate channels before leaving the vessel.
5. Cake Drying — When required, compressed air, inert gas, or steam can be introduced to reduce residual liquid in the filter cake.
6. Cake Discharge — Depending on the application, the cake can be discharged in dry or wet form. Pneumatic vibration helps detach the cake from the filter leaves.
7. Cleaning & Maintenance — The filter leaf bundle or shell can be retracted, providing easy access for inspection and cleaning.
